UPMS was founded to offer practice management services and expertise to small anesthesia and pain management practices in North Carolina. Small groups often lack the time and resources to understand current managed care contracts, hospital exclusive contracts, employment and governance contracts, pricing strategies and other business relationships. These services are "value-added" that UPMS offers its billing clients.
UPMS is not an off-shoot of a large anesthesia practice. We are employee-owned and treat all of our clients with the same degree of professionalism. Word of mouth is our primary and best marketing source, and we take pride in our high client-retention rate.
UPMS owns its software. We create custom reports, respond to unique situations, and are more responsive than commercial billing systems. We run custom reports for all of our clients, such as reports that track "flat fee" revenue by physician, revenue reports by division, and reports that identify patients by ICD-9 or CPT-4 codes within a specified date range.
